Mark 4:3-20: “Listen! See, a sower went out to sow. 4 “And it came to be, as he sowed, some fell by the wayside, and the birds of the heaven came and devoured it. 5 “And other fell on rocky places, where it had not much soil. And immediately it sprang up because it had no depth of soil. 6 “But when the sun was up it was scorched, and because it had no root it withered away. 7 “And other fell among thorns. And the thorns grew up and choked it, and it yielded no crop. 8 “And other fell on tov soil and yielded a crop that came up, grew and yielded a crop, some thirtyfold, and some sixty, and some a hundred.” 9 And He said to them, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear!” 10 And when He was alone, those about Him, with the twelve, asked Him about the parable. 11 And He said to them, “To you it has been given to know the secret of the reign of Elohim, but to those who are outside, all are done in parables, 12 so that ‘seeing they see but do not perceive, and hearing they hear but do not understand, lest they should turn and their sins be forgiven them.’ ” 13 And He said to them, “Do you not understand this parable? How then shall you understand all the parables? 14 “The sower sows the word. 15 “These, then, are the ones by the wayside where the word is sown. And when they hear, Satan comes immediately and takes away the word that was sown in their hearts. 16 “And likewise these are the ones sownon rocky places, who, when they hear the word, immediately receive it with joy, 17 and they have no root in themselves, but are short-lived. Then when pressure or persecution arises because of the word, immediately they stumble. 18 “And others are those sown among thorns, these are they who hear the word, 19 and the worries of this age, and the deceit of riches, and the desires for other matters, entering in, choke the word, and it becomes fruitless. 20 “And those sown on tov soil, are those who hear the word, and accept it, and bear fruit, some thirtyfold, and some sixty, and some a hundred.”

Luke 8:5-18 “A sower went out to sow his seed. And as he sowed, some indeed fell by the wayside. And it was trodden down, and the birds of the heaven devoured it. 6 “And other fell on rock, and when it grew up, it withered because it had no moisture. 7 “And other fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up with it and choked it. 8 “And other fell on the tov soil, and grew up, and yielded a crop a hundredfold.” Having said this He cried, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear!” 9 And His taught ones were asking Him, saying, “What does this parable mean?” 10 And He said, “To you it has been given to know the secrets of the reign of Elohim, but to the rest in parables, that ‘Seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not understand.’ 11 “And this is the parable: The seed is the word of Elohim. 12 “And those by the wayside are the ones who hear, then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, lest having believed, they should be saved. 13 “And those on the rock are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy. And these have no root, who believe for a while and in time of trial fall away. 14 “And that which fell among thorns are those who, when they have heard, go out and are choked with worries, and riches, and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to perfection. 15 “And that on the tov soil are those who, having heard the word with a noble and tov heart, retain it, and bear fruit with endurance. 16 “And no one having lit a lamp, covers it with a vessel or puts it under a bed, but he puts it on a lampstand, so that those coming in see the light. 17 “For whatever is hidden shall be revealed, and whatever is secret shall be known and come to light. 18 “Therefore take heed how you hear. For whoever possesses, to him more shall be given; and whoever does not possess, even what he thinks he possesses shall be taken from him.”
